The idea of Synapse was first introduced to the creator of the game in the 1980s at a family reunion. It was played by one team member guessing a word for which the other members of the team gave a clue sentence. The catch was that each person could only add one word at a time to the sentence. Fast forward over 20 years when a friend suggested that the nameless game be marketed like an acquaintance had created Sequence.  Five years went into the family project of developing Synapse. It continues being marketed by the creator.
